User Guides - Product Installation Guide: Peak Training™ 6.0 - CD-ROM Install

1.

We always recommend installing Access Run-Time and then the Windows Media Player
before installing our course. These instructions assume that there are no other instances of earlier Peak Training titles installed on the system.

To begin installation, click the 'Start' button on your taskbar; scroll to the 'Run' command and left click.
2.
In the dialog box that appears, type in the letter of your CD-ROM drive (typically it is D), as shown below.
This path will start the
Summit Peak Training
course setup.  Left-click  the 'OK' button to continue.
3. Course installation has begun when the next screen appears.  The "Made with Macromedia" logo will flash and move on to the next screen.
4. The welcome screen is next.  Left-click the 'Next' button to move on.
5. The "End-User License Agreement" is next.  After reading and agreeing to all terms and conditions, left-click the 'Yes' button to continue.  Course installation will not continue until the 'Yes' button is selected.
6. The next screen asks for the peak training program files destination.  The path automatically defaults to the Program Files directory of your computer system.  If necessary this path can be changed with the browse button.
7. The next window asks for the destination of the Peak Training database.  This file automatically defaults to the 'Windows' directory (Windows 95, 98, ME, XP) or the 'WINNT' directory (NT 4.0, Windows 2000).  Once again, this can be changed if necessary.
8. The destination summary window is next.  This window asks to verify that the paths are correct.  If everything is correct, left-click the 'Next' button to continue.
9. This version of Summit's software requires that Access 2000 Run-time is installed on the computer before the course is.  This will happen regardless if you have Access 2000 or Access XP.  These files are necessary for the software to run properly.  This will only have to be done once if you have multiple titles to install.  After the destination windows a dialog box will appear stating that Access Run-Time needs to be installed.  This box also warns that by doing this it will overwrite any existing database associated with Peak Training.  Left-click 'Yes' to continue. (If this is your second time through the setup, this will not happen.  Goto step 15.
10. By selecting 'Yes', Access Run-time is now ready to install.  In the next window, left-click the 'Install Now' button to begin Access 2000 Run-time installation.
11. A progress window will then appear showing the progress of the installation.
12. After the progress windows, there will be a window reporting that Access Run-time has been installed successfully.  Left-click 'Finish' to move on.  (If your operating system is windows 95, NT, or 98 there will be another window reporting that windows installer needs to restart the computer.  Left-click the 'Yes' button to restart now.)  The window shown below (bottom) will appear regardless of your Operating System.  Left-click 'OK'.  If your OS is NOT 95, NT, or 98 continue to Step 15.

13. Another window box will appear announcing that Windows needs to be restarted.  Left-click 'OK' to do so.  Note:  on some systems you may have to manually restart the computer; this is normal.
14. After restarting, this window box will appear.  This shows the final progress of the run-time setup.  When it is done, the desktop will be shown again.  At this point, setup has to be run again.  Repeat steps 1-8.  The Access 2000 Run-time setup will not happen again.
15. A progress bar is then shown installing the program files for Peak Training.
16. You will see the dialog box below.  When this box appears, this will be several minutes, regardless of the computer system.  This step is connecting the Peak Training Database to the Operating System and the Peak Courseware.
17. The DSN entry window will disappear and more files will be installed.
18. When the progress bar reaches 100% the next window will appear stating that the program installation is complete.  It will ask if you want to restart your computer.  This is recommended.  Left-click finish to end program installation.
