Peak Training™ 5.0 - Network/Hard Drive Install

Note: Hard Drive Installation - requires a special license agreement.

This version of Peak Training™ is designed to install the database and the media files to a network drive. A seperate install is also supplied to make it easy for client machines to install the course files from the network and setup the required ODBC connections. This version does not require the CD to be in the machine to run the course.
1. Place the CD-ROM disk in your CD-ROM drive.

2.

Select START from the Windows® task bar at the bottom of the screen. Select RUN. At the command box, type in the letter of your CD-ROM drive, a colon, a back slash, and then “Setup.exe.” Example: If your CD-ROM drive is at drive “D,” you would type “D:\Setup.exe” and then select “OK.”

3.

The “MADE WITH MACROMEDIA” logo will appear on the screen, followed by the ”Welcome“ screen that encourages you to exit all programs before continuing the setup process. Note: Some programs, such as utilities, anti- virus protection, and others, can interfere with the setup process. Click on the “NEXT” button to continue.

4. The ”Software License Agreement“ screen will appear. After reading the agreement select “YES” to continue the setup process or select “NO” to exit the installation.

5. You are now prompted to select the type of installation to run. Select "Network" and then select the "NEXT" button.

6. You are now prompted for the path where the program files will be installed. To accept the default path, select “NEXT” or enter a path and then select “NEXT.”

7. You are now prompted for the path where the Peak Training database will be installed. Enter a path and then select “NEXT.” Please remember or write down this path; you will need to enter it again in step 13. Note: You may install the database to a networked drive in order to keep all records in one database.

8. You are now prompted for a path where the media files (audio and video) will be stored. To accept the default path, select “NEXT” or enter a path and then select “NEXT.” Please remember or write down this path; you will need to enter it again in step 13. Note: Each course will need between 350Mb to 500Mb of hard drive space for the media files.

9.

Next is a confirmation screen. If the information is acceptable select “NEXT” to continue. Setup will then copy
the necessary files to the specified locations. Note: If installing a hard drive version of the program you will need between 350MB and 550MB of free disk space per course.

10.

When setup is finished, a window will appear telling you that the setup process was successful and request that you select the “FINISH” button.

11. Now, you must copy the contents of the "Client" folder to a network location that all computers the course will be run from can access. You must retain the file/folder structure of the contents within the "Client" folder. The "Client" folder itself does not need to be retained.

12. Change the properties of the "Path.reg" file, located in the "Peak50" folder copied to your network in step 11, to "Archive" only and not "Read Only".

13. Right click on the "Path.reg" file, located in the "Peak50" folder copied to your network during step 11, and then select "Edit" from the drop down menu. You must enter the correct database path used in step 7 above and the correct media path used in step 8 above. Save the "Path.reg" file with the changes you just made.

OR

14. Now the client computers can access the network and run the "Peak Setup.exe" file from the course folder they would like to install. They should follow the directions on the screen during the install. Once the course is
installed they can run the course by selecting the "Start" button on the desk top, "Programs" from the drop down menu, then "Summit Training Source," and then "Peak Training."
